COMMUNICATION REVEALS THE WORLD

English section

The significance of communication is often underestimated, yet it is integral to our comprehension of both the world and ourselves. The term ‘communication’ is ubiquitous in our daily discourse, yet its profundity often eludes reflection.

WHAT CONSTITUTES COMMUNICATION?

In my perspective, communication is fundamentally a connection among individuals. It embodies the process through which one person articulates their thoughts, emotions, or viewpoints to another. However, mere verbalization is insufficient; successful communication necessitates mutual understanding. When a message is accurately received and interpreted, communication has genuinely occurred.

EVEN SILENCE POSSESSES COMMUNICATIVE POWER

Communication manifests in diverse forms. We engage in conversations, exchange texts, and make calls. Our expressions can be articulated through language, gestures, and even facial cues. For instance, a simple smile can convey sentiments more effectively than an elaborate discourse. Intriguingly, silence itself can serve as a profound mode of communication.

EMOTIONS UNDERPIN THE PROCESS OF COMMUNICATION

Communication transcends the mere exchange of information; it encompasses emotions, support, and attentiveness. When we are actively listened to, we experience a sense of value. Conversely, when our voices are interrupted or disregarded, the connection diminishes. Thus, respect and integrity are indispensable components of effective communication.

FACE-TO-FACE INTERACTION VERSUS DIGITAL COMMUNICATION

In contemporary society, the proliferation of digital communication via phones and the Internet has diminished the frequency of face-to-face interactions. Nevertheless, I contend that authentic communication unfolds during personal dialogues — situations where individuals engage with one another directly and form genuine connections.

THE ESSENCE OF SOCIAL INTERACTION

I firmly believe that without communication, individuals can feel isolated. As Aristotle posited, ‘Man is a social being.’ It is crucial for us to exchange thoughts and actively listen to others. Communication not only facilitates a deeper understanding of the world but also fosters self-awareness. Consequently, the ability to communicate effectively stands as one of the most vital skills attainable in life.

  1. A very deep article for a first-year student! I especially liked the idea about silence. Few people think that silence is also a form of communication. And also the idea that it is not enough just to speak — it is important to be heard and understood. We often forget this in our daily routine.
Overall, great work. 10 out of 10 to the authors. Looking forward to new articles!

  2. Great article!😄 I especially liked the fact that even silence has a communicative power — it’s so true and often underestimated. In our rush to chat in messengers, we forget that a pause or a glance can say more than words.😔 The reminder that a real connection comes from personal communication struck a chord. Thank you for this thoughtful text.🌻🙏👌

  3. Thank you very much, Sofia, for your article! If you ask me, I think this article is very good and understandable. The article correctly states that communication is not only words, but also smiles, gestures and even silence. But I also want to add my opinion on what communication is. For me, it’s also the ability to listen to another person without interrupting him. Without this actions, real communication will not work, even if you talk a lot and beautifully.

  4. Sofia, I really liked the emphasis on humanity. In the digital world, we often just «transfer data», forgetting about the meanings. The text reminds us well: the world opens only through real dialogue. Thank you very much! Good luck! 🤩🏆

  5. Thank you so much for this article, Sofia! It turned out to be really interesting, and personally, I found myself nodding along to your idea that communication is more than just words — it’s about genuine mutual understanding.
That made me think: in your opinion, can communication still be considered “successful” if both people walk away feeling understood, even if they didn’t fully agree with each other? Would love to hear your thoughts! 😊

  6. Interesting stuff, thanks.👍 I agree that emotions and mutual understanding are very important, but is digital communication really that «less authentic»? 🧐🧐For many people, online conversations are just as real, especially when a face-to-face meeting is impossible.💭 Perhaps it’s not so much the way of communication as the intentions behind it?🤓 What do you think?😉

  7. Thanks to the entire team for a wonderful article. It’s very useful for people living in an information society, as communication plays a vital role in our lives. Congratulations to Sofia Kozey on her first publication!

  8. I thank Sofia for her responsible work! The author’s definition of communication sounds very cool! I am proud to study with Sofia in the same department! I liked the opinion that communication goes beyond the simple exchange of information and it includes emotions, support and attention. However, if you ask me, communication, and even more effective communication, is the ability to influence your opponent.
Anyway, thanks again to Sofia for taking the initiative in creating her own author’s article!

  9. I’d like to thank Sofia Kozey for her beautifully written article. I especially appreciated how you emphasized that true communication reveals not only the world around us but also ourselves, and that live communication through emotions and gestures is much deeper than instant messaging.

  10. I want to say thank you to everyone who has been working with me on this article all this time. The article turned out great! Thank you very much

  13. Thank you for this warm and thoughtful reflection, Sofia and the whole team!
I especially love how you point out that silence can speak just as loudly as words — it’s so true that in our noisy, notification-filled world, we often overlook the power of a pause or a gentle look.👍🏿
Beautifully said, especially for first-year students. Wishing you all the best with your studies in journalism and communication! ✨✨✨

  14. Hey! 💓I really loved reading your thoughts on communication — you’ve put into words something I’ve always felt but never articulated so clearly. Your point about silence being a profound mode of communication really struck a chord with me. It’s so true — sometimes a pause says more than a whole paragraph. Thanks for sharing this insightful piece!🤗🤗🤗🤗

  15. Thank you, Sofia, for this insightful article. You’ve beautifully highlighted something we often take for granted.Thank you for reminding us that in a world where everyone is “online,” real connection still happens when we put the phone down and look each other in the eye. Looking forward to your next piece!

  16. Wonderful! Great article! Very interesting material, I want to read it over and over again😍

  17. Here’s a short comment in English:

Great article! Communication truly is the bridge that connects us to the world and to each other. Without it, even the best ideas remain unheard. Thanks for sharing this thoughtful perspective!🥰

  18. This is a thoughtful and well-written article, especially for a first-year student!!! You’ve shown a clear understanding of how important communication is in both personal and academic settings. I like how you explained your ideas in a simple and relatable way, making it easy for readers to follow your points💌

  19. Sofia, congratulations on your first publication! 🎉
You’ve done a fantastic job. I love how you start from a simple yet profound idea – that communication is not just about words, but about genuine connection. Your point about silence having its own voice is so true, and quoting Aristotle gives the text a beautiful touch of wisdom.

The way you contrast digital messages with face-to-face interaction really makes the reader stop and think. And the final thought – that communication helps us understand not only the world but also ourselves – is simply inspiring.

You should be very proud of yourself. This is just the beginning, and I’m sure many more great texts will follow. Keep writing, keep sharing your voice!🤩🔥🥳

  20. Great post! I really liked how you emphasized that even silence can be a form of communication — this is often forgotten. And special thanks for the reminder about active listening: indeed, when we are heard, and not just waiting for our turn to speak, there is a real mutual understanding.
I would also add that in the digital age, we often confuse the number of messages with the quality of communication. You can chat for hours, but still not feel the other person. And sometimes one glance or pause is enough to say more than a long text. Do you agree?

  21. Sofia, Thank you for the reminder of the main thing: people should always be behind dry data. Your idea of dialogue as a key to peace is golden. I really appreciate this approach. Good luck to you and more meaningful meetings! 💕

  22. You make a strong point about silence and emotions being part of communication, but the argument against digital interaction is too black‑and‑white, and the text lacks specific examples or data. Thank you for the excellent work — it gives one plenty to think about.

  23. Wow, you conveyed your thoughts so wonderfully. I completely agree that personal communication is better than online communication. I’m looking forward to meeting my friends to finally discuss everything in person. Thank you for your work, I’m waiting for new articles

  24. In my opinion, the article came out amazing. Sofia did a great job and expressed very deep thoughts on a seemingly simple topic. It was a pleasure to read this text and work with it

  25. Thank you for this thoughtful piece. I particularly agree with your point that silence can be a powerful form of communication — sometimes what we don’t say speaks louder than words. However, I would add that digital communication isn’t always shallow. For people living far from family or those with social anxiety, a video call or even a well-written message can create a genuine connection too. Still, you’re right that nothing replaces face-to-face interaction when it comes to reading emotions like empathy or hesitation. Your article made me reflect on how often I text instead of truly listening. Well done.

  26. I completely agree with the author. In the age of messengers and social networks, we often mistake texting for real communication. Yet true understanding, empathy, and emotional support are almost impossible without live contact. The author rightly notes that respect, integrity, and the ability to listen are not optional “add‑ons” but the very core of communication. Developing this skill should be a priority, because without it we risk feeling isolated even in a crowded digital world.

  27. Sofia, thank you for the article! It was very interesting to read your perspective on communication as a future specialist in Information and Communications. You touched on a truly important topic, one that today is often overshadowed by the technical side of communication. I completely agree with you: unfortunately, we underestimate the depth of communication, reducing it to the transfer of information. Your observation that silence can also be a form of dialogue is especially valuable. Your essay is very inspiring; it makes us think about the quality of our relationships with others.

  28. What an inspiring and heartwarming article! I really liked the «smart bridge» metaphor—really, without live communication, ideas, and life become dull and boring. Thank you to the authors for such a vibrant and sincere perspective on communication!

  29. I find the article very interesting and useful for all people, because the topic of communication is very important at all times.
What struck me most was the idea that silence can also be a form of communication. I hadn’t really thought about this before. Usually, we fear pauses in a conversation and try to fill them with any words. But now I understand that sometimes, silence says more about a person than a long speech.

  30. The author says correct things in the article. But the article is simplistic when author writes that online chats are bad, while face-to-face communication is always good. In real life, both are important. Anyway, I really liked the pictures in this article that reflect the titles.
